Getting in the Christmas spirit

Christmas is a special time; when families come together and spend time to celebrate what is important to them.

In Australia, Christmas has always been a strongly celebrated and cherished tradition. Fairfield City Council will be spreading the Christmas cheer far and wide across our City over the coming weeks.

This year, Council will be continuing our very successful decoration of roundabouts with lights. They look amazing at night.

And this year, for the first time, families will see nativity displays provided by Council at some of our streets - Polding Street, Melbourne Road, Edensor Road, Prairie Vale Road and Mimosa Road. We hope you enjoy them.

We believe it’s important to celebrate Christmas and are hosting family friendly events for you to spend quality time with your loved ones. Tomorrow, I will be switching on the lights to the Christmas tree in Epoch Plaza, on the corner of Station and Nelson Streets in Fairfield City Centre.

This event will be fun for the whole family. From 6.30pm there will be a range of family friendly activities, including carols and a petting zoo. Santa will pay a visit with Rudolf and Toy Soldier to check on who’s been good.

Christmas celebrations will be held on 9 December in Freedom Plaza, Cabramatta, from 9am to 2pm and the Rotary Christmas Carols will be held at Horsley Park Reserve

from 6pm to 10pm. I encourage everyone to head out and enjoy the festive celebrations together with friends and family.

And to see in the New Year, I will be handing out Council’s ever popular calendar for 2018 at shopping centres across the City this week. You can also get them at Council’s Administration Centre, library branches and leisure centres.
