A big year for Fairfield City

It’s been a big year for our City, a year of achievement that we can all feel proud about.

Aquatopia has been a hit in its first year of operation and earlier this month Council added the amazing Wave Rider for local families to use. We have plans to install a new ride early next year called the Fishpipe to ensure fantastic and affordable family fun is available right here in Fairfield City.

Our input into the Western Sydney City Deal will deliver a framework to deliver improved infrastructure, roads, rail and more diverse housing choice to meet our needs.

Council has invested in infrastructure to ensure we meet residents’ needs. Smithfield Road will be upgraded and lanes doubled to ease congestion and make it safer.

We have installed new playgrounds and outdoor fitness equipment in a number of places across the City and put in many kilometres of new or upgraded kerb and guttering, footpaths and roads.

Our Green Team started this year and it is doing a great job keeping our City clean near major roads and streets.

We continue to look forward. This year we developed a vision to make the Cabravale Leisure Centre site a regionally significant Health and Wellbeing Precinct catering for specialist services for seniors, those with a disability and those needing rehabilitation.

We developed a Disability Inclusion Action Plan to ensure equal access and opportunities for all and we continue to invest in our future with such things as the transformation of the Showground into a sporting and cultural hub of excellence.

With a strong financial position, Council will continue to work hard.

I’d like also to take this opportunity, along with my Councillor colleagues, to wish you a very merry and safe Christmas with your families and loved ones.
