Fairfield Adventure Park opens Friday

When I was re-elected as Mayor in 2012 I made a commitment to make Fairfield a better place for families.

This week sees part of this commitment fulfilled with the opening of the Fairfield Adventure Park on Friday.

The Park is designed for older children in their early teens. The unique signature piece is the 11 metre high climbing net – the highest in Australia – with sky bridge and three giant slides.

The Fairfield Adventure Park is next to the Fairfield Leisure Centre and the soon-to-be-complete Fairfield Youth and Community Centre. This all comes together to form a large recreation precinct, perfect for a family day out and just a 10 minute walk from Fairfield station and CBD.

This is just one of the major projects being delivered to bring better facilities to Fairfield City.

Other exciting projects on the way include the Fairfield Youth and Community Centre and the much-anticipated Water Park at Prairiewood Leisure Centre, featuring a Stingray surfing/skim boarding half pipe ride.

I encourage everyone to come on Friday from 11am and have some school holiday fun.

National Youth Week

The launch of our Adventure Park falls on the first day of National Youth Week - the largest celebration of young people in Australia.

As part of the activities Fairfield City Council gives our local young people opportunities to participate in workshops to build their skills in areas such as music recording and performance.

Council is proud to present the biggest event during National Youth Week in NSW, the Bring It On! Festival. The Festival is at the Fairfield Showground on Sunday 19 April.

I encourage our youth to get involved in the great activities happening across our City for Youth Week.
