An exciting year ahead

I am pleased to say that the draft 2018-2019 Operational Plan, which outlines everything Council will deliver for the community for the next 12 months is on public exhibition from 29 March until 30 April

The plan details Council’s strong and innovative program of services, projects and exciting improvements for the coming year. I strongly encourage residents to take the opportunity to view and comment on the plan.

Some of our major projects for the community include:
•   further expansion of the Aquatopia Water Park

•   construction of the Hughes Street Car Park in Cabramatta

•   starting redevelopment of Fairfield Showground into a      Regional Multicultural and Sporting Complex, and

•   widening of Smithfield Road into four lanes.

As well as these major projects, Council will continue to deliver quality services and projects including:

•   Almost $14 million for upgrading local roads

•   Almost $2 million on footpath upgrades and almost $1     million on new footpaths across the City

•   $15.7 million in our Leisure Centres

•   $11.7 million toward Children and Family Services, which      includes childcare centres

•   $8.4 million in our Libraries

•   $5 million invested into community buildings

•   Almost $1 million on town centre upgrades

While delivering all this and much more, Council also remains in a strong financial position with a budgeted operating surplus of $3.9 million in the next year that will support many other Council services.

Residents can view the plan on Council’s website from 29 March. Physical copies can be viewed at Council’s Administration Building, libraries and leisure centres from 3 April.
