Youth Week entertainment

This Friday is the start of NSW Youth Week and Council is again partnering with a number of youth services to deliver an exciting range of events for the young people in our City.

Almost 20% of Fairfield City is aged 12-24, which means it’s important we continue to support young people through various programs and events to help them get involved, have fun and pursue their goals.

Our award winning Bring It On! Festival is one of the largest Youth Week events in NSW. It returns to Fairfield Showground this Sunday (15 April) and kicks off our Youth Week celebrations.

It is a fun day with great live entertainment for young people and their families and also provides skills development for more than 100 young volunteers.

The highlight of this year’s festival is Fairfield Warrior, a new competition which challenges participants in male, female and school age categories to test their strength and stamina in a custom built obstacle course to win a cash prize.

Following impressive performances at previous festivals, I’m happy that Vlado, Yours Truly and Olina Loau will return to wow the crowds and will be joined by Rachael Fahim, The Comfort, Undercast, HURST, Fiveash, Cleveland Dreamers, Tori Dunbar and Caio Ferraz, among others.

To top it off, there will be great food trucks, plus many rides, sports and yard games, dance competitions, live street art, a photo booth, youth services stalls and giveaways.

Bring It On! Festival will be followed by more great events and workshops over the coming week as part of our NSW Youth Week programming. Many of these have been organised in partnership with our Youth Advisory Committee who learn skills and advocate for local youth needs.

Youth Week events include disability and wheelchair sports, a scavenger hunt, live music night, skate event, climate action workshop and screening of the 2017 blockbuster movie ‘Wonder Woman’.

I encourage young people from Fairfield City and beyond to take part in our excellent Youth Week program.

Youth Week NSW runs from 13 to 22 April. Visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/youthweek for more details about our events.
