Bring It On! Festival 2015

This Sunday, more than 12,000 young people will descend on the Fairfield Showground for the Bring It On! Festival.

Bring It On! is one of the highlights of our yearly event calendar and we are very proud that it is the biggest event in NSW during the National Youth Week celebration. This year, Youth Week runs from 10-19 April with the theme 'It starts with us'.

The festival not only has big name musical acts and amusement rides, but it also celebrates the achievements of the youth and provides opportunities for our local young people. This year over 200 local young people have joined the Bring It On! volunteering program to learn skills in event management, sound engineering, photography and film.

Bring It On! is a drug and alcohol free event, and is a great day out for our young people. I encourage all of our youth to head along to Bring It On! this Sunday and enjoy the safe festival atmosphere.

Bring It On! is not the only Youth Week event happening in our City. Last Friday, I was proud to open the Fairfield Adventure Park on Vine Street, a great new attraction for our community. It was a wonderful day for the families of our City, with over 400 people attending our official launch. The park and equipment was given a huge tick of approval from the hundreds of kids that enjoyed it and Team 9Lives performed brilliantly, showing amazing skill and agility on the main features of the park.

Thank you to all that came along, and for those who have not visited yet, what better time than during Youth Week and school holidays to get out and enjoy our newest icon.

Tomorrow there will be an event at Freedom Plaza at 10am called ArtSpace, providing young people a chance to voice their opinion through art, and many other Youth Week events that are listed in the events section of our website.

I encourage everyone to celebrate Youth Week with me and recognise the achievements of the youth of our City.
