Bright future for Fairfield Showground

It is exciting to see that work is progressing rapidly to transform Fairfield Showground into a ‘mini centennial park’ for the families of Fairfield City.

Specialised high light towers have just been installed at the outdoor events arena.

When switched on, the lights will provide about 200 lux of light, which will enable high level lighting for festivals and sporting events. High standard lighting will be installed at the international size football field and the all-weather synthetic field as well. The turf at the events arena looks amazing, and turf is now being laid for the football field as well.

The first major use of the events arena was for the Tet Festival last weekend. It was a wonderful event and it was very exciting to see so many people there enjoying the new arena.

This is an important landmark moment for our City as it means that our vision to open the Showground up to the community is coming to life.

Work is also happening on the 2000 square metre undercover events arena, which will enable our city to host some of the biggest events, rain, hail or shine, right here in western Sydney.

There are plenty more exciting things planned for the Showground, including a new amenities building, a regional multicultural indoor sports centre, new grandstand, Australia’s largest kugel ball, a playground and walking paths.

There truly will be something for everyone at Fairfield Showground. It will be a place for families to come together to enjoy local festivals, to play and watch sport, to relax and build memories with friends and family members. It will be the beating heart of our City and a major landmark for the people of south west Sydney.

The Showground is one of many projects Council is working on to strengthen Fairfield City as a great place to live, work and raise a healthy and happy family.
