Local park upgrades

I am excited that over the next year, Council will invest close to $100 million on community infrastructure across the City.

In the next four years alone, Council will invest more than $20 million in our parks, reserves and sporting fields to help families to get outside, get active and get healthy.

We are a large City with 27 suburbs stretching from Villawood to Horsley Park and have different types of open spaces to meet the different needs of our community. Some parks have large sporting facilities, some walking facilities, amenities, outdoor fitness equipment, walking paths and some have playgrounds. Many have more than one of these features.

We recently installed Exeloo toilets and water refill stations at Chisholm Park, Canley Heights; Brenan Park, Smithfield and St Johns Park, St Johns Park. We will install an Exeloo and walking path and a new inclusive playground at Deerbush Park in the Showground precinct. Exeloos will soon be installed at Bunker Park, Bonnyrigg and Prospect View Park, Fairfield Heights.

In the past few weeks, new outdoor fitness equipment was installed at Terone Park, Bossley Park. I encourage you to use the new equipment. The equipment is there for you to use at any time of the day or weekend.

We understand there is a diversity of needs across our City and we will upgrade and build different facilities for all 139 parks across our City over time, whether it is exeloos, water refill stations, outdoor fitness gyms, playgrounds, sporting facilities or walking paths or a combination of these.

Over the coming year, local residents will see the improvements to our parks and outdoor areas.
