New park for families of Villawood and Carramar

Council has never been busier delivering exciting new projects that make Fairfield City a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Last week we began work on transforming 3,200sq m of vacant land in Villawood into a new neighbourhood park for local families.

Karella Park, at the corner of Karella and Koonoona avenues, will be a fun place for families to come together and be active, or to find a shady spot and relax. Council purchased six residential blocks to transform into green space for local families to enjoy.

Karella Park will join Council’s incredible line-up of local parks, and will rank among the likes of Fairfield Adventure Park, Bonnyrigg Park, Lizard Log, Emerson Park and Cabra Vale Memorial Park as one of our City’s premier green spaces.

We want to provide a different experience in our parks across our City. All of our parks are for all of our residents, no matter where they live.

The centrepiece of Karella Park will be a ground level ropes course – a fun and exciting way for children to be active outdoors. There will also be a flying fox, play equipment, permanent table tennis table, half basketball court, exercise stations, walking paths and shaded areas.

It will be the perfect place to play with friends, kick a ball with the family, or relax under a shady tree with a good book. There will be something for everyone at Karella Park.

I look forward to seeing families enjoying this wonderful new park from the middle of the year.Mayor with Councillors at Karella Park
