Dutton Lane redevelopment 'topped out'

On Friday I attended the "topping out" ceremony for the Dutton Lane redevelopment in Cabramatta.

The ceremony celebrated the important milestone of the completion of the building structure.

The Dutton Lane redevelopment will deliver a dramatic improvement to the streetscape of Cabramatta.

The three-storey building will provide retail and office space, community facilities and, importantly, 275 extra car spaces, increasing the parking in Cabramatta precinct to 880 spaces.

In addition to the improved retail space and extra car parking, and delivering new and improved facilities in Dutton Lane and for Cabramatta Town Centre, the development will also include a new lift, new toilet facilities, community rooms, community kiosks, improved footpaths and landscaping, and a new civic area for people to sit and enjoy the revitalised surrounds.

This project has been, and will continue to be, a major benefit to the economy of Cabramatta and the Fairfield local government area.

In October, Council adopted a motion to lodge a planning proposal to amend the height controls at Dutton Lane, which would allow for an additional level of car parking to be built in future.

At its meeting this month, Council endorsed the preparation of the planning proposal to amend the Local Environmental Plan (LEP) in relation to the LEP Heights Map over the Dutton Lane car park site to provide for a 13 metre maximum height on the site.

It also recommended to amend provisions of the Cabramatta Town Centre Development Control Plan so it aligns with the LEP as amended.

The Dutton Lane redevelopment is funded and owned by Fairfield City Council on behalf of all the community, which means that any revenue generated from this development will be returned to the community and enable more services and community projects throughout the whole City.
