2015 – a year to remember

This year has been a busy and productive year for Fairfield City Council.

I'm proud to have delivered many great projects and initiatives throughout the past year.

Some of the most outstanding ones included the Fairfield Youth and Community Centre, Adventure Park and hundreds of new parking spaces across the City.

Fairfield City hosted a number of fabulous events including Culinary Carnivale, Children's Week, Lunar New Year, Grandparents Day, Moon Festival and Christmas festivities across the City.

There are many more exciting projects ahead and Council is looking forward to building a better City for our community in 2016.

We will end the year with Illuminate, Fairfield City Council's inaugural New Year's Eve celebration. Delivered in partnership with community clubs Illuminate will be the biggest fireworks event South West Sydney has seen, with 11 sites simultaneously launching fireworks at 9pm.

I encourage everyone who wishes to attend to visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/illuminate, which contains a map of the 11 fireworks locations. With so many sites across the LGA launching fireworks please also remember to ensure the safety of your pet on this evening.

Additional Recycling Collection for Christmas and New Year

During this festive season, Council is offering you an additional recycling collection from Monday 28 December to Friday 1 January 2016.

Christmas and New Year is a time of giving and family celebrations. With all the presents, gift wrap and packaging it is also a time when we all tend to generate extra recyclable waste. Please leave your recycling bin out on your normal bin collection day.

Your fortnightly recycling service will continue as normal week starting 4 January 2016.

I wish you and your family a safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful holiday break and I look forward continuing to work with the local community 2016.
