Join me at our fantastic food festival

Council hosts a number of festivals throughout the year that celebrate the cultural diversity of our City.

What better way to bring people together than with a festival of food and some free, world-class entertainment? These elements will all combine this Saturday (22 October) when Culinary Carnivale is held in Spencer Street, Fairfield.

Culinary Carnivale is a fun family event where visitors can enjoy the sights, sounds, flavours and colours of Spain and Latin America. The location in Spencer and Ware streets provides an engaging and intimate venue where festival goers can immerse themselves in the experience that is Culinary Carnivale.

The festival is one of the major events held in conjunction with The Sydney Morning Herald's Good Food Month, so you can expect some great food to be served, such as seafood paella, meats barbecued in the Asado way and, for those with a sweet tooth, there are treats such as caramel dulce de leche and churros (with chocolate dipping sauce).

The free entertainment this year will be headlined by 2014 The Voice finalist and Fairfield's own C Major (Carlos Velazquez), who'll be performing with his band Veneno and back-up singers the Majorettes. C Major grew up in Bossley Park and his Uruguayan and Argentinian parents still live in our City. His show is a must-see as he oozes his flamboyant energy while performing up-tempo songs.

Also entertaining will be a popular Culinary Carnivale regular Victor Valdes and his Real Mexico, as well as Batucuda Brasil, Comparsa Yauguru (drumming in the streets), Tierra Colombiana, and Latin Mystique. The Latin Heat Rugby League team will hold a Pass The Ball competition, and Dauntless Movement Crew will perform their awe-inspiring acrobatics/breakdancing show.

For the kids there will be giveaways and free amusement rides and jumping castles. Please join me at this fantastic Council food event from 11am on Saturday 22 October in Spencer Street, Fairfield.
