Continuing to invest in the community

Fairfield City Council continues its fantastic record of investing and providing local services and infrastructure for the community.

We have had many exciting projects about to open for the community. Yesterday I was honoured to officially open the Crescent Plaza in Fairfield, a wonderful contemporary space for people to gather, socialise and attend daytime and evening events.

The Crescent Plaza is centrally located and, being opposite Fairfield Railway Station, is a showpiece right on the doorstep to our City.

The plaza focuses on celebrating our rich multicultural diversity by using themes and images as well as cultural stories and memories from years of migration into Fairfield City.

This project provides public space for the City's growing needs. Back yards are getting smaller and populations are increasing, so Council is building community hubs so residents, shoppers, commuters and visitors can come together to interact, reflect or have lunch in a shaded and peaceful setting.

The plaza features shade and landscaped areas, lighting, sculptured seating, pavement treatment, a play facility, a heritage timeline, a large LED screen and public Wi-Fi.

Other projects soon to open in the coming weeks are the Aquatopia Water Park and the obstacle course at Fairfield Adventure Park.

Council is also looking into the future use of the Showground in the heart of the City. This can be a jewel in our crown as a place of sporting excellence and to hold events and concerts. We are looking at providing a nearby Seniors Living Precinct that will enable older generations to live vibrant and active lives close to services, infrastructure and family.

Your Council has achieved a lot over the past four years and will continue to work hard to ensure our City is the best place in South West Sydney for families to live, play and work.
