Illuminate event a huge success

Illuminate, Fairfield City Council's New Year's Eve celebration, was a huge success with tens of thousands of residents looking to the sky as it lit up with the biggest multi-site fireworks display in South West Sydney.

More than 3,300 people attended Council's family site at Calmsley Hill City Farm, with extraordinary entertainment provided by local parkour and acrobatic team Dauntless Movement Crew, Nuance Performance Troupe, colourful entertainment from Jungle Mania Carnivale and the vocal styling of singer Nicole Pigadas.

In partnership with eight of our City's registered community clubs, Illuminate united families across the local government area in one giant celebration as fireworks were launched simultaneously from nine locations across the City:

  • Calmsley Hill City Farm (Council's family site)
  • Club Marconi
  • St Johns Park Bowling Club
  • Mounties
  • Canley Heights RSL and Sporting Club
  • Smithfield RSL
  • Cabra-Vale Diggers Club
  • Cabramatta Bowling Club
  • Fairfield RSL

I would like to congratulate everyone who was involved in organising an amazing event for the people of our City and I look forward to the next one.

Western Sydney Airport Forum

The Australian Government is calling for nominations to the Forum on Western Sydney Airport (FOWSA), which will be the main community consultation group for the Western Sydney Airport project at Badgerys Creek.

The consultation group will be the forum where community members and organisations can raise issues and suggestions during the planning and development of the airport.

On behalf of the community, the group will inform and respond to representatives of an Expert Steering Group led by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development. FOWSA is a key condition in the Western Sydney Airport Plan and will play an important role in this process to ensure the views of the community are taken into account.
