Fairfield City Family Day Care is celebrating 45 years of providing exceptional care and education for the families of Fairfield City.

The first Family Day Care opened in Fairfield City in September 1975. It was the first of its kind in our City and is the only scheme rated as ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Framework within the local government area.

Family Day Care offers in-home education and care for young children before beginning school. Our carers provide care during standard hours, evenings, before/after school, during school holidays and in some cases overnight and weekends.

Council currently supports 42 educators who provide care for 346 children. Since 1975, Council has supported more than 3,000 educators who have cared for more than 200,000 children.

Our scheme also offers industry-leading training to support the educators and the children in their care.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Fairfield City Family Day Care provides a necessary and high-quality support service for local young families.

“Our educators provide industry-leading care and education for young children in their care in a fun and nurturing environment,” Mayor Carbone said.

“They form strong and lasting bonds with families in their care. Many of our carers stay in touch with families for many years after their children move on to their schooling. Some even receive visits from teenagers and young adults who they once cared for!

“Our Fairfield City Family Day Care educators set local young children up for the best start in life while enabling parents to return to work to support their families.”
