What's happening?

Council is developing plans for a new state-of-the-art Community and Events Centre at Fairfield Showground. The $60 million project is proudly funded by the NSW Government in partnership with Fairfield City Council, with $32 million invested by Council and $28 million provided through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program.

Exciting progress is being made on the Fairfield Showground Community and Events Centre, with the project now officially approved under the State Significant Development Application (SSDA) process, a major milestone for one of Council’s most significant community investments.

Set within the heart of Fairfield Showground, the new centre will become a landmark destination for gatherings, celebrations and major events. Designed to be flexible and future‑focused, the state‑of‑the‑art facility will support a wide range of uses including exhibitions, performances, cultural events, community celebrations, conferences, sporting activities such as basketball; gymnastics; volleyball; and private functions.

The approved development includes a large exhibition and performance hall with a main stage and seating capacity for 3,000, a spacious foyer suitable for receptions and cocktail‑style events, multipurpose indoor spaces, function rooms and an outdoor courtyard and covered forecourt for smaller events. Once complete, the centre will significantly enhance Fairfield City’s ability to host both large‑scale and local events close to home.

With planning approvals now in place, Council is progressing toward the next phase of delivery, including detailed design and construction planning. Main works construction is anticipated to commence in February 2027, bringing Fairfield City another step closer to a vibrant new hub where the community can come together to connect, celebrate and create lasting memories.

Will the off-leash dog park remain open?

The dog park could experience partial closures during certain stages of construction and will be communicated in advance or signposted where possible.
