Local business our lifeblood

As a former small business owner, I know that Fairfield City's local businesses are the lifeblood of our community. They are colourful, unique, and part of what makes our City interesting.

Fairfield City is home to 15,187 local businesses, providing 75,666 people with jobs. Importantly, they provide crucial services to our residents as well as products that are sold here and overseas. That is something we should all be proud of.

The strength and growth of our local business community is critical to the future success of our entire City. Successful businesses bring investment to the area, supporting regional development and creating more local jobs, giving residents more options for employment closer to home. That is why Council is committed to supporting local businesses.

We are working together with the business community by providing services such as The Workary at Whitlam Library Cabramatta, where local businesspeople and business owners can make use of our free co-working space, meet and network or enjoy seminars and workshops.

We hope to replicate the success of The Workary with a new business hub at the current Fairfield Library building at Kenyon Street in 2020. Council is also investing heavily in improving access and amenity in our town centres. Expect to see a lot of work going on in Fairfield City Centre and Bonnyrigg town centre over the next 12 months.

We will also build a 220-space car park on Hughes Street in Cabramatta. This new car park will make it far easier for shoppers to access businesses in this popular town centre.

Council is also strongly advocating for a new rail link for our City as part of the new Western Sydney Airport. If it goes ahead, this link will make Fairfield City an even more attractive place to work and do business, as well as provide residents with even better links to universities and employment.
