I am excited to announce that tickets go on sale this week for our fun and safe Illuminate New Year’s Eve celebration. 2020 has been a difficult year but we understand the importance of bringing families together to celebrate.

Fairfield Showground will once again be the stage for this year’s exciting family event, which was attended by more than 7,000 people last year. This year however, tickets can only be purchased by local residents and ratepayers.

This year’s Illuminate will be a special masquerade-themed picnic and fireworks spectacular. From 5.30pm to 9.30pm, there will be music, comedy, trivia, carnival rides and an exciting jet pack display before the huge fireworks finale.

Council has worked hard to ensure Illuminate is a COVIDsafe event and a COVID-Safe plan has been put in place. Ticketholders will be allocated a seating area upon arrival on the grassed outdoor entertainment arena. Normal social distancing measures will be required across the arena, including when lining up to enter, at rides and when buying food.

Attendees are asked to bring a picnic rug or chair, and are encouraged to wear your brightest masquerade mask if you want to join in the spirit of the night. You can bring your own food or buy some at the event.

While many councils cancelled their New Year’s Eve events months ago, Council understood how important it is to bring the community together and for families to be able to ring in the New Year together. Everyone is looking forward to seeing out 2020 in a safe and fun way, as no doubt we are all looking forward to a far better 2021.

Ticket numbers are capped and our Illuminate celebrations always sell out, so I encourage you to get in early and secure your tickets.

I look forward to joining you in seeing out 2020 and bringing in a much better 2021, full of hope and joy, at Illuminate.
