The National Diabetes Services Scheme
The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is an initiative of the Australian Government administered by Diabetes Australia. Registration with the NDSS is free to eligible patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Registering allows you to access information, support, and subsidised diabetes products.
The NDSS contains videos and resources about your diabetes. It also contains a free online program around how you can become more active.
The NDSS offers many programs on a variety of topics, to assist you with your diabetes management.
Diabetes Australia CALD Programs
Diabetes Australia provides essential support to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in NSW and the ACT through a range of free in-language programs and resources for people living with or at risk of type 2 diabetes.
The below programs, among others, are available:
- Community Diabetes Education Program
- A 3-hour interactive workshop for people living with or at risk of type 2 diabetes.
- Languages: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Greek, Mandarin, Nepali, Vietnamese
- Diabetes Education in Pregnancy
- Awareness sessions and videos about managing diabetes during pregnancy.
- Languages: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Indonesian, Korean, Mandarin, Mongolian, Nepali, Portuguese, Rohingya, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese
- Looking After Your Health
- A 3-hour workshop (in-person and online) focused on managing chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.
- In-person languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Hindi, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish, Arabic, Dari, Nepali
- Online languages: Mandarin, Korean, Tagalog, Arabic
- Living Well
- A diabetes self-management program for those registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). Covers healthy eating, monitoring, illness management, and more.
- Languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin, Vietnamese
- Community Information Sessions
- Free sessions providing general information about diabetes and the NDSS.
- Languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin, Vietnamese
