Who are the Youth Advisory Committee
The YAC is a formal advisory committee of Fairfield City Council and is made up of members from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, genders, postcodes, life experiences and socio-economic backgrounds. The YAC can be described in four pillars:
- A Voice for Young People
- Volunteering and Participation
- Team Building
- Leadership and Development
YAC members meet monthly to hold discussions on topics and issues important to local young people and to plan for upcoming activities, workshops or volunteering opportunities. YAC also have opportunities to contribute to local projects and activities for young people and to advocate for youth needs via consultations and focus groups.
The YAC is also the official steering committee for the Bring It On! Festival, Fairfield City’s major Youth Week event.
The experience of the YAC each year is diverse and can depend on what opportunities arise or what the current group of members is passionate about.
