Council is seeking volunteers to join the Fairfield City Volunteer Register to help vulnerable members of the community, now and into the future.
New volunteers can register their details through a simple sign-up process and help deliver essential services to those most vulnerable in our community.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said that the register was set up to help charity and not-for-profit organisations deal with increased demands during the coronavirus crisis and beyond.
“Our City needs volunteers to lend a hand to members of the community that might require help as a result of COVID-19 and beyond.
“Older volunteers who regularly volunteered their time in the past are being advised to stay home for their own safety.
“While our City has not so far been heavily impacted by Coronavirus, we need to be ready in the event there is a second wave. We are acting now to ensure we are ready to give a helping hand in their time of need.
“Many charities have come under strain from a range of pressures which have seen a gap in the delivery of regular services to the vulnerable members of our community.
“There are many ways you can safely volunteer and help those struggling during these difficult times,” Mayor Carbone said.
Volunteers will be required to carry out simple, non-medical tasks, such as essential deliveries and providing telephone support to people who are self-isolating for various reasons. How it works:
