Council’s Fairfield City Open Libraries will reintroduce its order and collect service for library customers who live within Fairfield City from Tuesday 5 October.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the order and collect service gives residents easier access to the libraries’ collections.

“It has been a difficult time and I acknowledge the community’s great effort in leading the way in following Public Health Orders and getting vaccinated, so we can start to open up our City,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Our libraries offer customers a massive range of free online access to ebooks, audio books, emagazines, movies and learning apps which have been available during lockdown.

“The order and collect service makes it easier to now get your hands on our physical collection too and is the first stage to opening our libraries fully when we can,” he said.

The order and collect service enables library customers to reserve library items, including books, audiobooks, tablets, videos and DVDs over the phone or online and select a library branch for safe pick up.

You can reserve up to 10 items through the library website at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/library or the Library app 24/7 or by ringing 9725 0333, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm.

“We know residents love and need access to our amazing collections for leisure, for work and for study and Council is doing everything it can to make our collections available and accessible to everyone,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Not only is our physical health important during the pandemic, so is our mental health. Reading is a great way to exercise the mind and have fun in the comfort of our own homes.”

“Council will continue to progressively open our physical libraries as it becomes safe and practical to do so.”

Please present your library card when you pick up your items. If you are not a member, membership is free and you can join online at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/library

Items will be placed on a table at the entrance to the library for collection. Please wear a mask when collecting items and adhere to the current Public Health Orders.
