Children at Fairfield Preschool are enjoying more challenging and creative play with the construction of a new exciting outdoor learning and play area.

The preschool’s young learners are already enjoying their $134,000 play space, which features natural and built elements for children to explore and engage in play-based learning.

The improvements include new synthetic turf and soft fall, a larger purpose-built sandpit, mound slide, rockery with water feature, bike path, seating area built around the tree, manicured gardens and a larger storage shed.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said he is proud that Council provides such a critical service for the families of Fairfield City.

“Council is the largest not-for-profit provider of early education and care in Fairfield City,” Mayor Carbone said.

“This new play space is a wonderful addition to Fairfield Preschool. I know the children will have a great time playing and learning in their new playground.

“Our early learning centres set our young children up for a great start in their education and in life. Play-based learning is a critical part of this.

“These centres also provide a much-needed service for parents who are studying or working to support their families.”

Council has close to 3,000 places a day at our Children’s Services, including:

  • 13 centre-based Early Learning Centres (0-6years) and one mobile preschool.
  • 10 supported playgroups
  • A Family Day Care scheme with up to 60 Educators providing education and care in a home-based environment.
  • Fairstart Early Intervention, a registered provider under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), providing a number of early intervention supports including speech pathology and occupational therapy for children aged 0-12 years.
