Our city and town centres are some of our most important spaces. They are the beating hearts of our City, focal points of business, culture and entertainment.

Fairfield City Centre is no exception. To celebrate and support Fairfield City Centre as a cosmopolitan shopping and dining destination, Fairfield City Council will hold the first ‘Wonderful Wednesday' event on 15 May.

Roaming entertainers will thrill shoppers in the city centre between 11am and 2pm and draw attention to the unique retail shopping experience in the city centre. Council staff will also be on hand to give away free canvas Fairfield City Centre shopping bags to shoppers.

Wonderful Wednesday will be a monthly event held in the Fairfield City Centre.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Wonderful Wednesday was just one of the ways Council is supporting local businesses in Fairfield City Centre.

"Ensuring our centres remain vibrant and are allowed to thrive is an important focus of Council. We want local businesses to do well, to continue to invest in our City and encourage shoppers to visit from across our City and beyond," Mayor Carbone said.

"That is why I am proud that Council has launched Wonderful Wednesday. Fairfield City Centre is a colourful and exciting place and we want more people to come and experience what it has to offer.

"Over the next nine months, Council will also roll out town centre improvement projects worth more than $1 million that will improve access for shoppers as well as the visual appearance of the centre."

The roaming entertainers will be active along Ware and Spencer streets, and Thomas Ware Plaza.
