Christmas in Fairfield City

Published on 30 November 2022

It’s that time of year again when we light up the City to celebrate Christmas. The City will come to light and we have lots planned so you and your family can celebrate the festive season.

The festivities will start with the popular lighting of the Christmas lights at 17 roundabouts and intersections on Thursday 1 December 2022.

When you drive around the City you will be dazzled with Christmas cheer spread across 17 intersections and roundabouts at Abbotsbury, Adams Park, Bonnyrigg, Bossley Park, Fairfield, Greenfield Park, Lansvale, Mt Pritchard, Prairiewood, Smithfield and Wetherill Park. Keep an eye out as you drive around our City!

The festivities continue, with a variety of exciting Christmas family events happening around our City including:

  • the lighting of the Epoch Plaza Christmas tree in Fairfield City Centre tonight (1 December 2022) at 7.30pm
  • Christmas carols around the Christmas tree in Freedom Plaza Cabramatta on Saturday 10 December 2022 from 9am to 1pm
  • the popular Children’s Christmas Party at Canley Heights Town Square takes place tomorrow (2 December 2022) with rides, music, face painting, balloonists, carnival games, food, and a visit from Santa, all happening from 3pm to 7pm
  • Christmas workshops across all our Fairfield City Open Libraries, see the website for details.

I want everyone to get involved in lighting up our City. So deck your house in lights and decorations and bring an extra dose of Christmas cheer to your street for local families to enjoy. Enter or nominate in our Light Up Christmas competition, where you could win one of 10 hampers to the value of $150. Don’t forget to nominate your favourite house at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/LightUpChristmas.

You can also spread cheer to families and individuals doing it tough by donating to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. Drop off new and unwrapped toys or non-perishable food items at any of our five libraries or select Woolworths stores by Friday 16 December 2022. Council is partnering with 20 local charities to make sure your donations reach those in need. You can find participating Woolworths stores on our website.

I look forward to the upcoming festive season and seeing residents spread cheer in our City.
