Fairfield Hospital – have your say on the master plan

Mayor's Message - Fairfield hospital upgrade

The Fairfield Hospital upgrade master plan has been released and I encourage you to provide your feedback on the plan to make sure we get the hospital we need and deserve.

As you know, after our petition with 11,000 of your signatures, the State Government has committed to at least a $550 million upgrade of Fairfield Hospital.

As an election promise, Federal Labor committed a further $80 million.

This is a true testament to what we can do as a community if we work together. I want to thank you once again for signing the petition to get this upgrade kickstarted. But work is just beginning, and we still need your help to make sure we get the hospital we need and deserve.

The master plan and an accompanying survey is the next step in shaping the future of healthcare in our community.

Please view the master plan and provide your comments in the survey at www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/fairfield-hospital-redevelopment. There will be more opportunities to have your say as the project progresses. I'll keep you updated on its progress.

After speaking to many locals, it is my view that we need a better emergency department to make sure residents receive the best of care in their time of need. We also need an MRI machine at a minimum, and locals have told me they want access to more specialists as well as better and cheaper parking.

No matter what you want to see in your local hospital, now is the time to have your say.

We have all fought hard, you the community, and Council, to petition the NSW Government for a necessary upgrade to our hospital.

As Mayor of Fairfield City, I want to thank you for your support. I will always advocate for our community and the hospital funding was a major win for our community and for people power.
