International Women’s Day in our City

Published on 02 March 2023

Next Wednesday is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the progress that women have made towards equality and what more can be done. To help the community celebrate International Women’s Day, Council is hosting a number of events.

On Wednesday 8 March, Council’s the Workary at Whitlam Library Cabramatta will have three guest speakers who will share their inspirational stories. Lakshmi Gowda, Joshua Badu and Robogals all have unique and inspiring stories to tell.

Also on Wednesday, Fairfield City Museum and Gallery is inviting guests to listen, learn and share with an inspiring group of local Dharug women. This event will discuss ideas and experiences from a First Nations female perspective.

Fairfield City HQ’s After 5 Networking Event will also be on Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm. You can connect with like-minded business people over canapes and drinks.

Later this month we will celebrate and recognise our own Fairfield City Women’s Day Award winner, which I’m excited to announce. We began this Award just four years ago and we have seen some great role models awarded for their achievements in their careers.

Our International Women’s Day events encompass the #embraceequality theme for this year’s International Women’s Day. They explore gender equity and making this a part of society’s ‘every day’.

Registration is required for the Workary, FCMG and Fairfield City HQ’s events.
