Working hard in the year ahead
Published on 22 May 2025
As your Mayor, I’m proud to share some exciting news about what’s ahead for our great City. Council has committed nearly $83 million in capital works for the 2025/2026 financial year—real investments that will make a real difference for our community and for local families.
We’re in a strong financial position, with a $2.1 million net operating surplus and the lowest residential rates in Western Sydney. That means we can keep delivering high-quality services while not adding to the cost of living for our residents.
We’re bringing to life some fantastic, city-shaping projects—like the new Community and Event Centre at Fairfield Showground and the Special Entertainment Precinct in Canley Vale and Canley Heights. We’re also upgrading parks with new playgrounds and fitness equipment and adding colour and life to our streets with public art and beautification works.
There are also millions of dollars going into upgraded sports fields, better roads and transport, improvements to public buildings, and new and upgraded footpaths right across our suburbs.
This is just a snapshot of what’s in store for the year ahead. You can find the full list of projects and services in our Operational Plan at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/operationalplan.
Council has a strong track record of getting things done—and we’re focused on continuing to deliver for our hardworking families, growing local businesses and the future of our City.
