Culinary Carnival

Culinary Carnival returns in 2019, bigger and better than ever!

2019 Culinary carnival

Culinary Carnival marked its return to the Fairfield City events calendar with a generous serving of food, music and dancing for the whole family.

More than 5000 visitors sampled cuisine from across the world while enjoying the entertainment and soaking up the carnival atmosphere in Spencer Street, Fairfield.

Visitors also had the opportunity to pick up some kitchen skills of their own, with demonstrations from 2017 MasterChef contestant Bryan Zhu, The Three Assyrian Sisters and Get Kids Cooking.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said he was delighted with the turnout, who witnessed the beginning of a new chapter for the popular event.

“Culinary Carnival is evolving into a truly international celebration of food and culture,” Mayor Carbone said.

“We have such rich diversity here in Fairfield City and what better way to celebrate it than with delicious food and a colourful afternoon of entertainment.

“It is a true celebration of the flavours, sights and sounds that make our wonderfully diverse City a great place to live and visit.”

Children also embraced the fun and challenging eating competitions. Georgette Barkho triumphed in both the falafel and churros categories, while Sophia Glackin was also declared a winner in the falafel category.
