Cabramatta Moon Festival Returns in 2022

Sydney’s iconic Cabramatta Moon Festival returns following a 2-year pandemic pause on Sunday 28 August, with Björn Again headlining a jam-packed day of entertainment, food and family fun.
Catch internationally acclaimed ABBA tribute show Björn Again performing all the popular hits against a lantern illuminated night sky, or see mother and son cooking sensation Angie and Dan Hong hit the stage and go head-to-head with their take on a traditional and modern spring roll! Angie is the founder of Cabramatta’s landmark restaurant Thanh Binh, and Dan is an Australian chef, restaurateur and television host of SBS Food’s The Streets with Dan Hong – dishing up some of the most delicious street food from around the world.
Right across the day there will be music and performances for the family to enjoy, and young ones will have the chance to meet, greet and grab a photo with the mischievous Kevin and Bob from Minions 2: Rise of Gru.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the Cabramatta Moon Festival is a significant event for Council where everyone can join in the festivities.
“I’m excited to announce that the Cabramatta Moon Festival will make a big comeback this year, bringing together people from many cultures and from all over Sydney to celebrate our wonderful diversity and connect with one of the most important dates on the Southeast Asian calendar,” Mayor Carbone said.
“It’s great to see big events back and bringing in visitors to our city. With more than 90,000 people attending in previous years, the event plays a vital role for tourism in the area; attracting visitors and boosting the local economy and creating jobs.
“We all love our traditions and culture, that’s what makes us strong as a community. I guarantee there will be something for everyone at the event, and look forward to this year’s festival being the biggest and best ever held.”
Events will kick off in the town centre from 11am with lion dancing on poles, followed by a free line up of family friendly entertainment and activities, and a spectacular fireworks finale at 8pm.
Crowd favourite activities will return, including the children’s chopstick challenge, and pho and mooncake eating competitions, together with performances, market stalls, rides, games and the popular lantern parade heralded by the lovely moon goddess and archer.
