Local music enthusiasts are invited to experience our region’s musical past at Fairfield City Museum & Gallery’s upcoming exhibition Travelling Sounds: Music & Migration in Western Sydney.

Fairfield City is a place where cultures meet and sounds travel. Through photographs, vinyl and various memorabilia, this new exhibition explores the connections between music and migration in Sydney’s west.

Travelling Sounds: Music & Migration in Western Sydney chronicles the area’s diverse musical cultures and shared experiences of life in Australia.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said music is a powerful unifying force.

“Western Sydney has a history bringing people of diverse cultures together, and finding belonging through music,” Mayor Carbone said.

“From rock ‘n’ roll legends to hip-hop pioneers and today’s up-and-coming musicians, western Sydney’s music scene has been shaped by local talent with a story to tell.

“Travelling Sounds: Music & Migration in Western Sydney looks back to an iconic era in our music history from the 1960s through to today.”

Notable artists featured in the exhibition include: The Easybeats, John Paul Young, Jon English, AC/DC, South West Syndicate, Sound Unlimited, Def Wish Cast, Peacefender, L-Fresh the Lion, MC Trey, Jessica Jade and BARKAA.
