Flood Maps for Flood Affected Land

Development of flood affected land requires detailed information such as flood level contours and flood risk precincts. If you have purchased 10.7 (2) & (5) Certificate(s) for a flood affected property(ies), you can request this additional information to assist with your development.

Once you receive the Planning Certificate, please follow the process of obtaining a flood map as per the flow chart below. If you have any issues or need some more information, contact Catchment Planning Branch at 02 9725 0222.

Flood maps for Flood Affected Land – With GIPA advisory notation

Where a Planning Certificate includes a supplementary advisory GIPA note (as shown in picture below) relating to overland or mainstream flooding, flood information must be obtained through the GIPA informal request process.

Advisory GIPA note example.

Process

Applicants may lodge an informal GIPA request (free of charge) to obtain flood information.

The response will typically include:

  • A GIPA response letter
  • Draft flood study levels
  • Flood mapping showing 100 year ARI extents (where available)

The standard processing timeframe for flooding information under this process may take up to 10 business days and may vary depending on operational demands and other factors.

Further information on the GIPA process is available via here.

Important Note:

If a Planning Certificate does not include a flood related advisory GIPA note, please apply for flood maps via “Flood Maps for Flood Affected Land – Adopted Studies” process.
