When is the date for the Cabramatta Lunar New Year Festival 2024?

Cabramatta Lunar New Year 2024 will be held on Saturday 24 February from 11am to 9pm, and Sunday 25 February from 11am to 4pm. 

The blessing of Fairfield City and Cabramatta community will be held on Saturday 2 March at 10am.  


Is the event free?

 Yes


When is the actual Lunar New Year date?

Lunar New Year falls on Saturday 10 February 2024.


What is the Lunar New Year celebrations about?

Lunar New Year is a significant cultural celebration in many Southeast Asia countries. Leading up to this day, people clean their homes to prepare for the New Year. It is also considered bad luck to sweep or clean on New Year’s Day as you may sweep away your good luck and fortune! The first person to enter your house on New Year’s Day is believed to either bring you good luck or bad luck for the rest of the year – so be careful! 


What animal is Lunar New Year 2024?

Each Lunar New Year is associated with an animal name for one of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac.

Cabramatta Lunar New Year 2024 will celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

Stalls are exclusively for sponsors of the event.

I would like to perform at the event. What do I need to do?

Proposals for roaming entertainment are welcome before 30 November 2023. Please send an email with your details to events@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au.


How can I get to the festival?

Transport to the festival by train in recommended for easy access. Cabramatta Railway Station falls on the T3 Bankstown, T5 Cumberland and T2 Inner west and south lines and is a 45-minute journey from Central train station.


Where can I park my car? 

There are car parks and street parking available in Cabramatta, subject to availability. Paid car parking is available at the Dutton Lane multideck carpark (780 spaces), and Fisher Street multideck carpark (350 spaces). 

Free-timed carparking is available at a number of smaller carparks in the Town Centre, however they are in high demand. 


What should I bring?

Make sure to bring along your hat, water bottle, and apply sunscreen for the summer time event.
