I’m excited to announce that Council’s biggest street celebration of international flavours Culinary Carnival will return to Fairfield City Centre this weekend, and everyone is invited.

This year’s event is gearing up to be bigger than ever; marking the return of ‘The Crazy Bull’ and co-host of Network 10’s The Living Room Miguel Maestre who headlined the event back in 2013 and 2014, and popular Assyrian songstress Sonia Odisho and the Pepa Molina Flamenco Dance Group.

Maestre was a huge hit with crowds in previous years and we can’t wait to see him cook his famous Paellatron LIVE on the Fairfield City Central stage from 2pm. Alongside Maestre will be some of our award-winning food vendors and restaurateurs serving up a multitude of cultures on a plate.

Spencer and Ware streets in Fairfield City Centre will be transformed into the ultimate street party showcasing authentic local eats, local cultural performances, junior cooking workshops, competitions and amusement rides. There really will be something for everyone at Culinary Carnival.

We’ll also be promoting our Fair-food map – a collaboration between Council and Mia Cucina Food Tours and Maps which showcases some of the best restaurants in our local food bowl that have put our City on Sydney’s culinary map. You can download the map for free on your smart phone at https://www.discoverfairfield.com.au/Discover/Food/Fair-food-Map.

Fairfield City prides itself on hosting inclusive and affordable family events that support local business, and Culinary Carnival is no exception. What makes our City such a unique and special place is the wonderful diversity of its residents and their passion for sharing and celebrating their culture with neighbours, friends and family.

So mark your calendars for this Saturday, 27 May from 11am-6pm. I encourage you to bring your friends and family, and most importantly your appetite, to Culinary Carnival in Spencer and Ware streets Fairfield City Centre. I look forward to seeing you there.
