Fairfield City is fast becoming known within the region for its ‘super parks’ with unique and varied playgrounds and equipment, with something for everyone.

We already have Deerbush all-abilities playground at the Showground, Koonoona Park in Villawood, and our much-loved Fairfield Adventure Park. I’m excited to update you on two more ‘super parks’ being built right now –Bareena Park, Canley Vale, and Fairfield Heights Park.

Each of our existing super parks has different characters and play elements to ensure there is something for everyone in our City and Bareena and Fairfield Heights parks will have their own special features as well, bringing something new to our City’s families.

Bareena Park will receive a one-of-a-kind large koi fish slide and climbing rope feature to go with the ‘water theme’ playground. Equipment will include swings, carousels, spinners, rockers, seesaws, musical equipment, slides, toddler play with shade, large gym node, learn-to-ride circuit track, sheltered picnic areas and an Exeloo toilet.

Fairfield Heights Park’s ‘nature theme’ playground will include a large fairy house treehouse piece with slide, in addition to accessible play equipment, toddler and kids swings and play zone, flying fox, water play area, learn to ride track, gym node, bubbler, picnic areas and an Exeloo toilet.

I’m looking forward to opening the parks for families to enjoy when they are completed in about July this year.

Parks are really important. They give families an affordable opportunity to get out and about, get some fresh air and be active.

It’s also important that there is something for all ages - playgrounds for the young, walking and cycling tracks and outdoor fitness equipment for older family members and picnic and green spaces for all.

In the next year there will also be upgrades to Carrawood Park in Villawood, more outdoor fitness equipment and exercise paths, and we will turn Endeavour Park into a quality sports hub catering to a wider range of grassroot sports.

Quality recreation spaces bring people and families together and keeps us healthy and active.
