Aboriginal Advisory Committee ‘Warin Tiati’

The Aboriginal Advisory Committee, ‘Warin Tiati’, provides professional and strategic advice and recommendations to Council on issues affecting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA).

Warin Tiati means ‘let’s talk’ in Dharug dalang. The Committee members sought to emphasise the unique identity and purpose of the Committee, with a name in Darug language.

The Aboriginal Advisory Committee aligns with several elements of Fairfield City Council’s City Plan 2022-2032. The Committee gives expression to Council’s commitment to community wellbeing, through fostering accessible opportunities for its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Council’s aim is to create an accessible and liveable city, with well-managed community assets and infrastructure. Underpinning all this is good governance.

Warin Tiati advises on the delivery and actioning of Fairfield City’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reconciliation Action Plan and meets quarterly.

Expressions of interest (EOI’s) to join Council’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee have now closed.

Council maintains a list of interested people that wish to serve on the Committee. If you would like to be placed on the list for recruitment and consideration when there are vacancies, contact Social Planning and Community Development for more information.
