Bring It On! General Volunteers

Position Description:

Volunteer Applications for this year's Bring It On! Festival is now open. Join one of the biggest youth volunteering crews in Western Sydney

Bring It On! Workshops and Volunteer Opportunities for Young People.

Position Description:

  • Fairfield City Council is offering FREE workshops for young people aged 12-24 to build creative media skills in the lead up to the Bring it On! Festival 2023.
  • Workshops will be offered across four streams including photography, videography, live sound production, and podcasting.
  • Each stream will feature 6 workshops over 6 weeks commencing in early March.
  • Workshops will be facilitated by professional Western Sydney artists and will help you build practical skills and knowledge in your chosen field.
  • All participants will have the opportunity to apply their new skills as volunteering as Crew Members at the Bring It On! Festival on Sunday 23 April 2023.

Food Hampers Volunteer

We are looking for a Food Hampers Volunteer who can assist with food hampers preparation to effectively distribute food hamper boxes to our low-income / disadvantaged community.

Activities include:

  • Food preparation room set-up/pack-up
  • Clean and sanitize the work area
  • Sort through fruit & vegetables
  • Evenly distribute food to food hamper boxes
  • Interact with community members
  • Keep clean the storerooms
  • Keep updating the food inventory

Position Description: 
These positions support SWS Recovery College Expert Panel and staff, working alongside the Peer Trainer/Tutors.

The position follows team processes and procedures and provides an opportunity to undertake program activities including attending Inclusivity Group meetings and completing actions in liaison with Manager and Peer Trainers. Actions may include (but are not limited to) research, developing resources, reviewing training and making improvements.   
Hours can be negotiated between 2-15 hours per week (depending on program needs and volunteer availability).

Grants Writer

Driving Mentor

Position Description: 
The Drive Time Mentor Volunteer provides supervised driving practice to selected refugee clients. All driving practice occurs in an insured automatic vehicle.

The objectives of the program are: Improve road safety outcomes supporting driver licensing disadvantaged communities to meet the Graduated Licensing Scheme (GLS) requirements, leading to reduced crash and injury rates.

Volunteers must:

  • Have not had an at fault accident in the previous two years
  • Have minimum of 3 years safe driving record

English Tutor

Position Description:

  • Tutors offer informal English Language tuition to new migrants and refugees with one on one lessons for 1 hour per week, face to face (online during Covid).
  • Anyone can be a tutor, even if your first language is not English, and teaching experience is not necessary.
  • Free training and resources are provided with ongoing support by a qualified teacher.

Creative Writing Tutors

Description of Organisation: Story Factory is a not-for-profit creative writing centre for young people in under-resourced communities across Sydney and NSW. We build writing skills, confidence and creativity. 

Position Description:

  • Mentoring and supporting young people from under resourced communities.
  • Volunteer tutors support our students to write stories of all kinds which are published by Story Factory.
