Children will cut, layer and arrange colourful paper with playful animal shapes, creating their own imaginative landscape, family scene or story. Inspired by the bold shapes, colours and storytelling of traditional Vietnamese folk art, this hands-on workshop encourages children to explore how old art forms can be given a fresh and contemporary twist.
The workshop is designed to encourage creativity, imagination and an appreciation of how traditional art can inspire new ways of making. Children will be encouraged to mix traditional folk-art elements with their own contemporary ideas and personal experiences.
As September is also the season of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the workshop provides a lovely opportunity to introduce children and families to a different folk-art tradition while celebrating creativity and cultural diversity. Đông Hồ prints are more than decorative pictures; they carry stories, memories and ideas that have been passed from one generation to another. Through collage, children can discover how these ideas can continue to grow and take on new forms today.
This workshop is recommended for children aged 7 - 12 years old.
