Fairfield City Council is inviting locals to get into the festive spirit, with a number of Christmas events being held at various locations across the City.

Christmas is a very important time for Fairfield City residents, and Council has spread the festive cheer right across our City by decorating an intersection near you!

The festivities will start with the popular lighting of the Christmas lights at 17 roundabouts and intersections with nativity scenes and lights commencing on Thursday 1 December 2022.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Christmas is a great time for families and the community to come together.

“Council loves to join in with our residents in spreading festive cheer and this holiday season our famous and ever-popular Christmas lights at roundabouts and intersections are on again delighting residents and evening commuters,” he said.

“The decorations look amazing at night, making the evening trip home just that little more joyous.

“This is an initiative that is unique to our City. Keep an eye out as you drive or walk around our City, or head out and enjoy the festive celebrations with friends and family.”

The following intersections and roundabouts will be lit up:

• Restwell and Mimosa roads, Bossley Park
• Prairie Vale and Moonlight roads, Prairiewood
• Melbourne and Edensor roads, Bonnyrigg
• Polding Street and Cumberland Road, Smithfield
• Smithfield and Edensor roads, Greenfield Park
• Nelson and Station streets, Fairfield
• The Horsley Drive, Fairfield
• Cabramatta Road and Hume Highway, Lansvale
• Cabramatta and Meadows roads, Mt Pritchard
• Smithfield and Richards roads, Prairiewood
• Sackville Street and Canley Vale Road, Adams Park
• The Horsley Drive and Hume Highway, Lansvale
• Wetherill Street and The Horsley Drive, Wetherill Park
• Prairie Vale and Cowpasture roads, Abbotsbury
• Polding Street and Cumberland Highway, Smithfield

There are also Christmas trees on Edensor Road near the Smithfield Road intersection and beautifully lit Christmas trees at Epoch Plaza in Fairfield City Centre, Freedom Plaza in Cabramatta Town Centre and The Horsley Park Reserve.

The Christmas lights will stay in place until the third week of January.

Thursday 1 December, 6.30pm – 8pm
Epoch Plaza, Fairfield City Centre
Free entertainment includes a DJ, Christmas carols, balloonists, kids activities, photo opportunities on the 360 camera with Santa and Christmas mascots.

Santa visits Canley Vale Town Centre

Friday 2 December, 12pm – 2pm
Canley Vale Road, Canley Vale
Catch Santa and his helper out and about on Canley Vale Road. He’s got candy canes to giveaway so be sure to say hello and ask him for a photo!

Canley Heights Children’s Christmas Party

Friday 2 December, 3pm – 7pm
Canley Heights Town Square, 222 Canley Vale Road, Canley Heights
Free entertainment includes a DJ, rock climbing wall, amusement rides, carnival games, balloonists, face painting and a 360 camera.

Cabramatta Christmas Carols

Saturday 10 December, 9am – 1pm
Freedom Plaza, Cabramatta Town Centre
Santa and his helper will hand out candy canes while a face painter entertains children in Freedom Plaza, and Southwest churches combined perform Christmas carols for the community.

Light Up Christmas Competition

Deck your house in lights and decorations and bring Christmas cheer to your street for local families to enjoy. Enter or nominate in the Light Up Christmas competition, where you could win one of 10 hampers to the value of $150. To nominate or enter visit fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/LightUpChristmas.

Mayor’s Christmas Appeal

Spread cheer to families and individuals doing it tough this year by donating to the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. Drop off new and unwrapped toys or non-perishable food items at any Fairfield City library branch, or at select Woolworths stores by Friday 16 December 2022.
