Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Published on 20 December 2022

Christmas is a special time of the year when families come together and celebrate what is important to them.

We have helped spread the festive cheer by setting up Christmas lights at roundabouts to delight residents and evening commuters. The lights look great and we hope this has made your evening trip home a little more cheerful. Around the City, you will also see our Christmas banners and decorations in our town and city centres.

Council also conducted the annual Light Up Christmas Facebook Competition, which rewards the best Christmas decorated houses across the City. We had a great response to the competition this year. Thank you to everyone that entered and I look forward to more submissions next year.

The celebrations will continue in our City on 31 December with Illuminate NYE at Fairfield Showground from 5pm – 10pm. Join me for a night of family-friendly entertainment, jetpack shows, food, free rides, and a spectacular fireworks finale as we ring in 2023.

Tickets are $5 and are still available to buy at www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/illuminate.

There is lots happening over the summer holidays across some of our services to keep the kids entertained. There is something for everyone so I encourage parents and carers to have a look and take advantage of what’s on offer.

For more information on events and workshops happening over the holidays, visit fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/events.

I wish you and your families and loved ones a very merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year. I look forward to continuing to serve you and support the community in the coming year.
