New and renewed footpath program

I want to reassure you that Council is getting on with the job and continuing to provide essential services during this lockdown. While we have had to change the way some of our services are being delivered and some services have been temporarily closed, we are continuing to deliver on essentials like waste and recycling collection, cleaning and maintenance, road maintenance, construction, and much more.
We are investing more than $7.5 million across the local government area in the upcoming financial year on kerbs, gutters and footpaths in both business and residential areas.
Footpaths make it easier and safer for people to get around the City. They benefit everyone including young families with children and prams and people with disability or mobility issues. Footpaths also encourage walking for exercise and help connect residents to community facilities such as shopping centres, parks and other areas.
One of my priorities and Council’s goal is to provide footpaths on at least one side of every street in the City and to also improve connectivity to Town Centres. We can only do so much every year but we are getting there.
As well as renewing and building footpaths along sections of major roads and streets across the City such as Polding Street, Bonnyrigg Road, Mimosa Road, Canley Vale Road, John Street and The Horsley Drive, many smaller roads in our suburbs will have footpaths and kerbs renewed or built in the financial year.
