Council’s Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition is open for entries!

Established in 2017, the competition offers residents of all ages a chance to share in more than $8,000 of prizes across 5 categories:

  • Primary school aged student
  • Primary school Waste to Art
  • Secondary school aged student
  • Adult
  • Waste to Art – Repurposed Suburb Banners.

This year we have introduced the Waste to Art – Repurposed Suburb Banners category to give our banners a new life! You may have seen our big colourful banners around the City promoting our wonderful events and programs. We want to challenge you to upcycle them into a creative work or functional product to save them from going into landfill.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said that with a bit of creativity, anything can be upcycled.

“We are extremely proud to be hosting the Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition once again, this year building on the Waste to Art category with the repurposed suburb banners activity,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Every day we see so much waste going into landfill when it could be redesigned into a new product, so we are challenging the community to come up with a new purpose for our old or damaged suburb banners to extend their lifespan.

“The new category is an example of how Council is being more environmentally responsible by re-imagining waste into everyday products.”

Other category submissions can include photography, 2D, 3D and digital art capturing the City’s natural and built landscapes, experiences, and attractions.

Entering the competition is a simple three-step process:

  • Complete the online entry form
  • Upload a photograph of your work.

Submissions close midnight Sunday 25 June 2023 and winners will be announced on Tuesday 25 July 2023.
