NSW Immunisation Schedule

NSW Immunisation Schedule Tile.

Immunisation programs

Did you know that NSW has a free immunisation schedule that helps protect people of all ages from serious illnesses?

These vaccines are funded through the National Immunisation Program, meaning they are free for eligible children, young people, adults and older residents.

Children & Families

From birth, children in NSW receive important vaccines—starting with hepatitis B, then regular vaccines throughout infancy and early childhood to protect against diseases like whooping cough, measles, mumps, rubella, polio and meningococcal disease.

Adults

Many adults don’t realise that immunisation is important throughout life—not just during childhood. The NSW Immunisation Schedule includes vaccinations for adults to help protect against:

  • Influenza (flu) – recommended yearly, especially for older adults, pregnant people, and those with certain health conditions.
  • Whooping cough – recommended during each pregnancy to protect both the parent and the newborn baby.
  • Shingles – recommended for older adults and people with weakened immunity to prevent shingles and its complications.
  • Pneumococcal disease – recommended for older adults and people with certain medical conditions to prevent serious lung and bloodstream infections.

Keeping up to date with your vaccinations helps protect:

  • Your health
  • Your family
  • Our community, especially babies, older people, and those with chronic health conditions
