Draft Plan of Management Council-managed Crown Reserves

Fairfield City Council has been appointed the Crown Land Manager for 19 Crown Reserves. Council has prepared a draft Generic Plan of Management to guide the use and management of 18 of these Crown Reserves in Fairfield City. Management of the remaining Crown Reserve (Fairfield Park) will be covered by a site-specific plan of management.

The Plan of Management covers parks, sportsgrounds, natural areas and general community use areas, and guides how these spaces may be used, managed and improved in the future.

The reserves included in this Generic Plan of Management are:

  • Avery Park
  • Barook Place Reserve
  • Bossley Park Community Centre
  • Bowden Street Reserve
  • Cabravale Memorial Park and Arthur West Memorial Hall
  • Carramar Community Centre
  • Echuca Park (part)
  • Former Fairfield Library
  • Harris St Community Hall
  • Hartleys Oval
  • Horsley Park Reserve
  • King Park
  • St Johns Park
  • Knight Park (fields 1 and 2)
  • Foreshore parks of Chipping Norton Lake in Lansvale.

This public exhibition period is opportunity for the community and interested parties to read the draft document and provide comment via submission.

The Plan of Management aims to:

  • contribute our broader strategic goals and vision as set out in the Fairfield City Plan,
  • ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 and the Crown Land Management Act 2016,
  • provide clarity in the future development, use and management of the community land,
  • ensure consistent management that supports a unified approach to meeting the varied needs of our community.
