Council has a variety of different funds that are there for benefit of the community, including funds for community organisations, talented sportspeople and school students.

The funds are there to help individuals and groups achieve their full potential. These funds are compiled of both Council funding and also donations from myself and some councillors who forgo their pay increases to donate the money to the community fund.

We have many compassionate and talented people and groups in our City who help others, improve the environment and succeed in academic goals, the arts and sport. It’s one of the things that makes Fairfield City such a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Over the past few months, Council has made numerous donations to a variety of groups, including $500 to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School to help them support a student facing medical challenges and $1000 to help purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle for a local family.

Council contributes more than $30,000 every year in donations to help dozens of local individuals and community groups.

These donations help get our young people over the line for sports uniforms and travel needs, and help community groups to grow their various community assistance and outreach programs, enriching the lives of those in our community who need a hand.

More than ever this year as our young people get back into representative sport, and as community organisations re-ignite their fund raising efforts, Council wants to help. If you are a local community group, school student or rising sports star, I encourage you to think about applying for a donation from Council to help you on your way.

Information about criteria and how to apply are on Council’s website. Visit www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/grants or call 9725 0226 for more information.
