THE POSITION: 

An exciting opportunity exists for motivated and highly experienced self-starters to join the multi-tasked Community Enforcement branch within Council’s Community Regulatory Services division.

As a delegated Community Enforcement Officer, you will be experienced and confident in companion animal capturing and handling, parking enforcement and undertaking complex investigations associated with the duties and responsibilities of Council. This is achieved through effective detection, and resolution of matters by way of issuing penalty infringement notices, Council Orders or Court attendance notices pertaining to breaches of Legislation, Codes, or local Council Policy.

The position reports matters affecting Councils risk management and public liability to Council, customers, and stakeholders. All Enforcement Officers are always to act with integrity, impartiality, and compassion in the provision of prompt quality service.

ABOUT YOU: 

  • Have an in-depth understanding of the responsibilities of Council in relation to the administration and enforcement of the Companion Animals Act, Local Government Act, Road Rules, and other relevant legislation.
  • Hold relevant qualifications in Regulatory Services or have extensive job-related experience in an appropriate field.
  • Have great communication skills with proven ability to deal with conflict in sensitive situations.
  • Foster quality customer service and able represent Council in a professional manner.
  • Understanding of privacy laws in the use of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience in using office-based software such as word processing programs, e-mail, and internet to assist with written communications for reporting.
  • NSW Microchip Implanter accreditation would be highly regarded – however not essential.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Permanent full-time position, 9 day fortnightly rotating roster with working hours ranging from 5am to 10pm, Monday – Sunday.
  • Grade 4 base salary starting at $72,841 p.a.
  • Annual performance-based appraisal system to work towards base salary $85,322 p.a.
  • Shift penalty for rostered weekend work of 50% for Saturday (time plus half) and 100% for Sunday (double time) on top of the base salary pay.
  • Employer contribution 11% superannuation.
  • 25 days of annual leave and 15 days sick leave per year.
  • Access long service leave after 5 years of continuous employment.
  • Dual cabin utility leaseback vehicle is available for work and personal use.
  • Full uniform and work-related mobile telephone are provided.
