NOMINATIONS ARE BEING SOUGHT FOR COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES TO FAIRFIELD CITY COUNCIL’S LOCAL PLANNING PANEL (FLPP)

Fairfield City Council is seeking Community Representatives to participate on the Fairfield Local Planning Panel (FLPP) to determine planning applications for certain local developments.

Community representatives have until 3 May 2024 to nominate for positions on the Fairfield Local Planning Panel.

The FLPP will consist of three independent experts and representatives of the local community.  We are looking for a mix of people who live locally to join our FLPP.

Your role as an FLPP member is a part-time, paid role commencing in July 2024 for a period of up to 3 years. The position will be paid in accordance with rates set by the NSW Government. 

You will be expected to contribute constructively to panel discussions, attend up to 12 meetings a year, and help determine applications for new developments in your area.

All community representatives must satisfy the following criteria;

  • Be a current resident of Fairfield Local Government Area (LGA) and be 18 years or older;
  • Have an understanding of the LGA issues of concern to the local community;
  • Have the capacity to form independent views and to contribute constructively to the determination of applications;
  • Able to demonstrate a general level of understanding of the planning system and assessment issues;
  • A commitment to following the Code of Conduct for Local Planning Panel members and the Local Planning Panel operational procedures; and
  • A commitment to attend Local Planning Panel meetings and completing panel business in the required timeframes.

Mayors, Councillors, property developers and real estate agents are not eligible to apply.

Candidates will be subject to a probity check in accordance with the Department of Planning, Housing and Industry factsheet for Council Planning Panels and associated Local Planning Panels Directions.
