Regional and Metropolitan Community Hearings are an opportunity for community representatives to put forward their views on the proposed options in the paper.   Community members interested in addressing the Panel at the hearing can fill out an expression of interest form available here. Applications are now open for anyone living in Fairfield City, aged between 18 and 24 to join the committee and have a voice in what young people want in their City. On average, 10 children drown in private swimming pools with a significantly greater number experiencing serious long term injuries such as brain damage. PROPOSED SMITHFIELD ROAD AND POLDING STREET - INTERSECTION UPGRADE Fairfield City Council is seeking your comments on options to upgrade the intersection of Smithfield Road and Polding Street at Smithfield. Council plans to improve road safety at the intersection, securing funds from Roads and Maritime Services’ grant in 2013/2014. Council has reviewed the average daily vehicle volumes (ranging from 25,000 vehicles per day on Smithfield Road and 15,000 vehicles per day on Polding Street) with up to 40 metre queues seen in morning and afternoon peak periods. The reported crash data for the five year period from 2006-2010 reveals 39 crashes.
