Information sessions for community grants
Published Tuesday, 30th January 2018
Fairfield City Council will soon host multiple information sessions and workshops for prospective Social Change through Creativity Grant applicants.
The workshops will be held on 28 February and in early March to help people better understand the purpose of the grant program and how to submit a quality application.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said Council’s creative grant program provided valuable assistance to community initiatives that improve the wellbeing of Fairfield City residents from various backgrounds.
“Council’s Social Change through Creativity Grant program plays an important role in supporting not-for-profit organisations as they work to improve the opportunities and wellbeing of Fairfield City residents in unique, creative ways.”
“Council continues to be inspired by the creativity, commitment and dedication shown by residents and local organisations in their efforts to making Fairfield City a better place for everyone to enjoy.”
“Last year $40,000 was granted towards social, sporting, cultural and environmental community initiatives. Successful projects included a Spanish-language play that united community members from 22 countries of origin and a youth mentoring program for Iraqi-Australians.”
Not-for-profit creative groups or cultural and community organisations can apply to receive a one-off Social Change through Creativity Grant of up to $5,000 for creative projects that address important community issues.
“Council will hold a two-day grant writing workshop and multiple one-on-one mentoring sessions by appointment on select days,” Mayor Carbone said.
“These grant workshop and mentorship programs are designed to assist applicants to learn important grant writing skills, including developing an idea into a grant project, devising a budget, and basic project management.”
