Celebrate Seniors Week
Published Friday, 23rd February 2018
Fairfield City Council will celebrate Seniors Week in April with a number of engaging programs and activities for the City’s senior community in April.
Council’s popular Seniors Talent Quest will return to Club Marconi and include singing, dancing and plenty more. Other events will be held at Council’s leisure centres, libraries and Museum and Gallery.
Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone said that Seniors Week, held between 4 and 15 April 2018, is an important celebration for the City’s senior’s community.
“Almost 39,000 Fairfield City residents, aged 60 years or over, make up more than 19% of our population. Seniors are therefore a large and important proportion of our community,” Mayor Carbone said.
“As our population continues to age, seniors will continue to play a significant role in shaping our City as a great place to live and play.”
“Many of our City’s seniors do great things in our community. Their skills, life experience and wisdom are invaluable as they continue to care for grandchildren, share family traditions, volunteer in the community or continue in the workforce.”
“Seniors Week is a great opportunity to recognise the achievements and compassion of our seniors community while taking part in a number of fantastic and fun events. I encourage seniors to join us and celebrate with friends and family.”
“Council is also finalising the program for our popular Talent Quest and I encourage those who would like to showcase their talents during Seniors Week to get in touch with us.”
